Devastation.

This past week there was a horrific tornado that touched down in Oklahoma. Not only touched down, but was at least 1 mile wide and was on the ground for over forty-five minutes. (Most people already know these details but I want to remember when I look back at this in the future). It has been the most awful things I have seen in my lifetime. Houses completely obliterated. A school complete crushed with children stuck instead and many dead. People's lives ripped a part in a matter of minutes. When it first happened I was not able to tear my eyes away from the TV. Now, days later I am not able to keep my eyes away from all of the damage and havoc left behind. It is heart wrenching to see people who have lost everything, many who have not only lost all of their possessions but their loved ones as well. It is seriously like nothing I have seen before. I know tornadoes do damage year after year but there are entire neighborhoods just gone.
However, even in the midst of all of this tragedy I am so proud to be an American. So proud to see people from across the country coming together to serve those who are suffering beyond measure. And while I am so heartbroken for the people of Moore, Oklahoma, I also have to take a step back and be so grateful that I am safe. In the midst of misery it is easy to only look at the tragedy and simply forget the blessing left on my own life.
Continue to pray for Oklahoma.
