Thankful Day 9
DAY 9 I'm thankful that tomorrow is a new day. Since this is supposed to be written on Friday I will write that I am thankful tomorrow is Saturday! This translates into a day spent on the couch catching up on my tv shows from the week and a day spent reading and lounging all.day.long. It also means date night with the hubs...a date night where I have actually convinced him to go to a sushi restaurant. Hopefully he will find something he likes so this can become a regular activity for us!

Thankful Day 8
DAY 8, I'm thankful for learning about the value of communication. Growing up my parents always made my sisters and I tell each other we were sorry when we would get into fights. I always hated it...so much so that I would end up being sequestered to my room for hours because I would refuse to apologize. I never fully appreciated this requirement until I got older and had to practice it as an adult, especially in my marriage. When I was little I didn't see the point of being forced to apologize even when I didn't mean it, but now I know that it was such a valuable lesson in life because it forces me as adult to complete the same task. Communication was not only taught in this manor but in all things growing up. My parents encouraged communication and modeled this in their relationship with each other and in their relationship with their children. It is because of this model growing up that I have the marriage that I do. Not saying that my marriage is perfect when it comes to communication (let's face it - I'm a girl who constantly wants hubs to read my mind and will hold my ground until he either does read my mind or I have waited long enough and break down and tell him how I am really feeling) because believe me, it isn't...but Coy and I practice open communication daily in our relationship, even with the tough stuff. I am thankful that I was taught the value of communication in relationships and in family and I hope to one day display the same model for my children.

Thankful Day 7
DAY 7 I'm thankful that my friends are amazing! I truly feel so blessed by the friends that I have. Even though many of us live miles apart, I know I can count on each and every one of them! I have so many fond memories with my friends and look forward to the many more that we will have. I am blessed beyond measure with the friends the Lord has provided me.

Thankful Day 6
DAY 6
I'm thankful for my right to vote. I'm thankful that I live in a place where I can make my opinion be heard and also a place where as a woman I am valued. So often during elections we get so caught up in who we stand with or who we stand against, who we feel is right or wrong, and who we are going to vote for and in the midst of this forget all of the work that has gone on before us to enable us the right to vote. I voted this morning because I care about the future of America and I want my voice to be heard...by a vote! I voted because I have convictions, morals, and beliefs about what is best for this great country. And I vote because I owe it to the people who fought, in times which I cannot even fathom living in, for all of us to have a say in our country's government. Even though I am so over all this political race, because of all the political propaganda going around, I still remain thankful that I live in the United States, that I am blessed with freedom and liberty, and that I have, and you, have the hard earned right to vote!

Thankful Days 1-5
Since I started this challenge a little late I will make up for it by catching up in one simple post!
DAY 1 I'm thankful for my family. Last weekend hubs and I moved into our new home. Not only did our family spend hours and hours getting our home ready to be moved into (painting, fixing, cleaning, etc) but they also spend most of the day Friday and Saturday helping us get moved and settled in. In addition to that, my mom has made several trips to our house since we moved in (just a week ago) to help with other odds and ends. We both have felt pretty blessed and thankful lately - not only for our beautiful home, but for our amazing family which make each day in life a little easier.
DAY 2 I'm thankful that I know Jesus personally. Often times when I go through valleys I sit back and think that I just don't know what I would do if I didn't have Christ to walk through them with. Not only do I find comfort and strength in the Lord in my times of need but I also find joy and peace with Him in my times of rejoicing. How blessed we are that we are so loved by the creator of the universe! How blessed am I that I am in relationship with this same Maker.
DAY 3 I'm thankful that I have an amazing husband. We by no means have a perfect marriage, but we do have a blessed one. He is my rock. He brings me such joy and my life is complete with him in it. Recently I have not taken enough time to stop and appreciate him and all that he is and does. He is such a great man, not only because he is my husband but because of the joy and laughs he brings to so many people. His heart is so big. He loves me and puts up with my dramatics constantly. He loves the Lord and I love that together we walk in relationship with Him. I'm not just thankful because the Lord blessed me with a husband, I am thankful because I have been blessed with the perfect husband, who fits like a glove into my life.
DAY 4 I'm thankful for the mornings that involve coffee, which isall most of them. Whether this comes in the form of fresh brewed coffee from home or through the Starbucks drive thru and whether it comes while sitting in my office at work sipping out of my travel mug or wrapped in a blanket watching television with my big huge mug in hand, I am thankful for my love for coffee and the way that it has the ability to brighten any morning. Some of you coffee haters may not be able to understand this concept (and for that I feel sorry for you) but for those of us coffee lovers you know the exact thing I am talking about. Coffee and mornings and anytime of day just go together.
DAY 5 I'm thankful there's only an election every 4 years. And even that is too often. I am so over all of the political ridiculousness that is going on. Everyone has their opinion and everyone is entitled to that but social media has made stomaching it so much more difficult. While I can't say I don't care who you are voting for, because I do care about the future of this country, I can say that I don't care that you want to spread it all over Facebook and Twitter in a disrespectful fashion most of the time. I am also thankful this only happens once every 4 years because I don't think I can stand more of these debates, which also end with me furious about how both parties acted and the way they blame each other instead of focusing on the item at hand. So, instead of being in a bad mood over the next 48 hours I will choose instead to be thankful it is almost over and everyone can move on with their lives.

The I'm Thankful Challenge
I have been slacking a little bit with my blogging. Not only that but I have also let a pretty consistent poor attitude creep in more and more over the past few weeks. How this challenge works:
Each day starts with "I'm thankful" and has a sentence for you to finish....
Because of Thanksgiving in November, it tends to be the month where people challenge themselves with sharing a daily gratitude.
That's what we're going to do, but with a little more daily detail to think about!
I've come up with 30 days that begin with "I'm thankful" and continue with something to think about. Feel free to extend your finished sentence with as much or as little as you like!
